ML&L - Before we begin the questions, Mugzy, welcome in May.Life. When and how did you first become interested in music? What inspired you to start writing songs? What are your musical influences?

Mugzy - My brother who is 2 years younger then me introduced me to Hip Hop music. When we were kids he had all these burnt CDs of Artists such as Eminem, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes even the likes of Bow Wow and they were on loop constantly playing daily through-out the house. Fast Forward to 2005 I think I was 14 at the time, so years 8 of High School, I use to get punked and bullied a lot which cause me to have suicidal depression. Through-out that year I got myself an iPod and started listening to artists such as Eminem & his aggression/lyrics just gave me a voice to fight back like this voice in my head saying (Don't take no sh** anymore). When I was so attached with Eminem's music I then started listening to more artists such as Tupac, 50 Cent, Nas, DMX and they kinda developed me into a different person. Later on down the road I knew I was never good at school so instead of doing my work I would drop some small rhymes in my book but I knew if I wanted to progress this I would have to write full songs. Cut a long story short from having those influences on my iPod and dropping down those rhymes in my work book its led me to Release 2 albums (Hopefully working on a 3rd), Radio Play/Magazine Features WORLDWIDE, 12k & OVER fan base WORLDWIDE, Tone of Acting Roles, and BEST of all meet & greets with celebs/idols I thought I'd never meet in my life on this Earth.

ML&L - When did you write your first song?

Mugzy - The first couple years in high school I had nothing. No career goals, no friends I mean nothing and that’s what caused me to almost take my life. But when I started listening to hip hop music again it kinda gave a voice to fight back an attitude saying (f*** the world I don’t give a f*** anymore) so Hip Hop was a calling in disguise. Thinking back to the past I remember when I was starting off dropping down small rhymes in Art Class and it was some rhyme about Barbie & Ken, because most of the girls in my year were so sexy, but even though I wasn't playing with the girls. In my head the rhyme was adding up smoothly but when I wrote it down then looked over it I was like (sh** this is wack) so I scrunched it up and threw it away. Weeks went by and I was starting to get stressed because I couldn't figure out how to write good material. So one day I was sitting back playing this game called "187 Ride Or Die" on my PS2 and it was a gangsta racing game which had a DOPE Soundtrack from Rap Artist "Guerilla Black" then I thought why don’t try doing Australian Gangsta Rap Music & that’s when I wrote my first song "Bang Bang Bang" for my first album "Ride Or Die". Looking back on it I have to say it’s a learning kerb but it's so cringe-worthy to think about just knowing I wrote gangsta rap music to start off my career when that wasn't my lifestyle. But like I said learning kerb to develop into a better artist.

ML&L - What made you first realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?

Mugzy - When my name started to get around I would literally have people coming up to me saying “OMG are you Muzgy or you are that rapper guy or you are the guy with that bang bang track ain't you?’’. Its such an overwhelming feeling being noticed for something you created and having those interactions with people made me want to pursue hip hop more.

ML&L - What was the first song that you ever sang? How did it make you feel?

Mugzy - My first gig was at the end of my school years so year 12 & I was 18 at the time. It was an end of year concert for all the year 12 leaving school and they wanted people to perform so I put my name down. On the day I saw that 200 people locked up for the event and I was nervous because it was my first ever gig. I performed my track "Keep On Rapping" which was the single on my first album "Ride Or Die" after the performance ended people were screaming ONCORE, because no one ever performed hip hop for the school , I mean ever it was mainly Pop or Rock so I was the first.

ML&L - Do you have favourite places or times where you like to write? When is your favourite moment of the day to create your music?

Mugzy I don’t have a favorite time or place. But most of my creativity comes either when I'm driving and trying to sleep. Like when it happens as I'm trying to sleep that gets annoying because I have to constantly get up and write it down, so I'm very restless when I try sleep.

ML&L - Do you play any instruments ?

Mugzy - I don't play any instruments. But I would like to learn how to play Drums or DJ Scratching with Vinyl Records not this BS computerized DJing. My producer Pablo Gutierrez is CRAZY DOPE in the studio. His so chilled to work with PLUS he knows your vision like how you want the track to sound like. When we make the beats we grab ideas from other artists. For example if it’s a sad/depressed song we look at the lyrics and be like this could work with Eminem's Cleaning Out My Closet, so we take the beat then Mix/Blend it into our own.

ML&L - Thinking back to early childhood, what was your first experience with music for the first time like? What song do you remember most as a child?

Mugzy - Probably like The Wiggles songs like Big Red Car or Hot Potato. I have no idea.

Mugzy - Superheroes Live At Kincumber Festival 2012

ML&L - As a child growing up, music surrounds us; so what type of music did you hear the most back then? How does is differ from what you listen to now?

Mugzy - Children’s music at first when I was starting to walk & talk, but as a later child it would be Hip Hop/Rap, because my little brother introduced me to it. The funny thing is the music I listened to back then like artists such as Eminem, 50 Cent all of that I still listen to this day.

ML&L - What was the first record/CD you ever bought and do you still listen to it?

Mugzy - I think it was "The Eminem Show" and yes of caurse I still listen to it that’s an incredible album.

ML&L - Do you have a favourite concert? One by someone else?

Mugzy - Nas 'Illmatic' Anniversary Tour Down Under Australia. It was on the 23rd January 2015 a day after my Birthday at the Enmore Theatre Sydney. That concert was DOPE AS F*** I remember the experience like it was yesterday. The support act was taking way to long on stage so everyone was booing him off chatting Nas, so he walked off stage. The lights turned off then started to shine to this gritty brownish/orange color and on the stage this projector screen came down and it played an intro of a New York subway train then this narrator saying Hip Hop was created in the 70s while slowly fading the Illmatic front cover into the video. Then the lights went black again and a strobe light went BOOM straight onto Nas and he performed the song "New York State Of Mind" the crowd went bonkers.

ML&L - Do you have a mentor or inspirational figure in your life?

Mugzy - Not really, but I will say this that a person who truly admire though is Dana White CEO of UFC. The reason why? His the type of guy that would give you a shot at your dream whatever the circumstance maybe be even if you ain't that but good he can see something in you, he will give you that shot to prove it. We need more people like him especially in Music.

ML&L - Are you nervous singing live or do you get nervous before a show?

Mugzy - At first when I was starting off OMG of course I would almost sh** my pants. Now it’s just the adrenaline rush of getting it over on done with plus not giving a f*** give the crowd what they want or even what they hate.

Mugzy - Keep On Rapping Live At Urbanstar Burwood Sydney 2012

ML&L - How would you describe you’re your music for the public audience if they have never seen you before?

Mugzy - My massage mainly reaches out to people who just don’t give a f*** they don't go by all these rules in life like (oh I gotta do this or I gotta wear this to be noticed/respected in life) to me I think that's wack. I give full respect/credit to people who be themselves and don't act like a sheep. So yeah you can kinda say I'm being Negative but that’s my view on life & to my viewers.

ML&L - If you had to describe your music is three of four words, what would you call it?

Mugzy - Negativity, Real Sh**, Truth

ML&L - What would you be doing if you weren't making music?

Mugzy - I've always been the type when my mind gets stuck on something its very hard to un-do. So when I'm hustling daily trying to make a living off my music it’s extremely hard to switch off. So I have NO IDEA? Rapping is the only thing I know how to do.

ML&L - Is there a story behind your songs?

Mugzy - Most are about My Depression/Anger, How I see Society, Just stuff people tend to not want to talk about that’s what I love about hip hop freedom to express whatever.

ML&L - Do you have any bad habits you want to get rid of?

Mugzy - Nope.

ML&L - Do you have any advice for new singers ? What song would you tell them to listen to first and why?

Mugzy - I will say this If you want to do hip hop & be a rapper & make music DO it because you love it DON’T do it cause it’s a phase or you just want to be like the people on TV/radio. If you love hip hop & put time/dedication into your work You have my full respect. Nah just check out any of my tracks there all the JAM (plus there free download).

ML&L - Are there any problems that you have to face and overcome with your own voice that you could share with other singers?

Mugzy - Voice Wise? Yeah I realize that a lot of artists especially singers get self-conscious about their voices with recording or even performing, because a lot of them think people will judge them on their first time and some will yes. So if you're honestly afraid of people criticism then the entertainment Biz isn't for you. But If you want help to change it then just put your all into your work give it everything you got If this is truly what you want to do with your life don't let anyone break you down. Only live once!

ML&L - What can fans expect from your upcoming show?

Mugzy - Excitement in your face to Face, Interacting With the crowd through the lyrics let them join in the fun.

ML&L - Where would you like to see yourself within the next five years as an artist? What are your long-ten career goals?

Mugzy - In all honesty if it's the next 5 years and I still haven't made it then I'll keep hustling but then if there is no progress in 10 years then everything I’ve done to try get there is worthless. Only have ONE goal and that is making this come true anyway possible.
